Keep Watching: Ruud Boffin

Ruud BOFFIN made his Premier League debut recently, filling in for Robert Green who is considered to be West Ham's no.1. BOFFIN is a free agent in most setups and can be bought for around 500,000, his rating might increase a couple of points based on a few performances but there are players who will definitely rise that are better buys at the moment.

It's definitely worth tracking this player's progress though, West Ham look like they will inevitably get relegated and I could quite easily see them selling Robert Green to make some money and keep the wages down, that is when the young Dutchman could get his chance.

Here's some highlights of him in the Dutch league:

Soccermanager Youngster Tips: Matthew Briggs

With Mark Hughes at the helm, there's a good chance Fulham will keep blooding some good young players in the near future and Left Back, Matthew Briggs (75) has been tipped to make the grade ever since he became the youngest player to appear in the Premier League in 2007, having made his first Premier League start this season, he could be a player worth snapping up.

There have been rumours of Manchester United tracking him and word is that they could make a move for him as they have done with Chris Smalling in summer 2010.

He's available as a free agent in most setups and at 270,000 - could well be worth buying.

Making money in the transfer market

A major bonus of Soccer Manager is that it's really easy to sell players if you transfer list them at or around their current player value. Whilst it's always good to try to have a relatively stable first-team line up, I like to have quite a bit of transfer activity with about half of the first team squad, an easy way to make money is to buy players that are undervalued.

After a while you will have a rough knowledge of what player's values should be but a good tool at the beginning is to look at your Chairman's estimated value of the player and if it's a couple of million pounds above his current value, then the player is a good investment. This of course only works at unmanaged or external clubs usually, as managed clubs are reluctant to let their players go at undervalued prices, although it's not impossible.

It's important to make sure that the player is playing regularly and performing well, so that his rating does not drop in the time that you have him in your squad and also that the player's birthday is not within the next couple of months.

Below I take the example of Fredric Kanoute, whose value is 6,290,000 and my chairman values him at 8.23m, his value is likely to rise immediately after signing him and after putting him in the first team for a few games, his value will rise to around 8.5m, I may even be able to sell him on for as much as 9m, so I would make almost 3,000,000 profit by the time I transfer list him when his 10 week transfer ban is over and of course have the use of a 92 rated player in the mean time.

Winning tactics and formation on Soccermanager.com

I like an attacking line-up, when I first started playing soccermanager.com, I tried numerous formations but found that playing more attackers wasn't always the way to get more goals.

I settled on a 3-5-2 system and invested heavily in the midfield, I'm also fond of players that can play both on the wing and as a striker and players who can play defensive midfield and centre-back, this allows me to rotate the squad with ease in the case of injuries or suspensions.

Welcome

Welcome to Soccer Manager Tips, the primary reason for this blog is to inform you about players who are likely to increase in value or rating, give you hints on when to sell a player and also a bit of tactical information.
